Edmund Bird, heritage manager at Transport for London will discuss the development of London's transport infrastructure.

Edmund Bird, heritage manager at Transport for London and former head of Urban Design & Conservation at Camden and Lambeth, will outline the key contribution made by the development of London's transport infrastructure including the railways, the Underground, trams and buses on the capital's growth in the 19th and early 20th century.

Edmund has been a conservation officer for 30 years starting at the City of Bristol and becoming team manager at the London boroughs of Lambeth and Camden. For the past 15 years he has been the heritage manager at Transport for London working on many historic station restoration schemes and public realm projects in heritage areas, and also advising the London Development Agency and the Greater London Authority during that time. He has published five books on the architectural history of Lambeth since 1837, available from Lambeth Archives.
