Welcome Letter to New Secretaries of State Following Westminster Reshuffle

Last week, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a Cabinet reshuffle. Of significance to archaeology is the appointment of Nadine Dorries MP as Secretary of State for DCMS and the appointment of Michael Gove MP as Secretary of State for the renamed Department of  Levelling up, Housing and Communities.

Along with CIfA, we have written to the new Secretaries of State. In these letters we have outlined the significance of archaeology to our heritage, historic environment and economy, stressing how important it is to ensure any planning reform maintains the level of protection for archaeology.
