Activities include creating a Saxon bracelet, object handling of real and replica artifacts, excavations in MOX's dig pit and exploration of the galleries. 

You are welcome to bring your own fossil and finds discoveries from Wallingford and surrounding villages for our palaeontologist and archaeologists to identify, if possible! The Finds Liaison Officer for Oxfordshire will also be available on the day. 

FREE drop-in activities for all agesThis summer's Festival of Archaeology at the Ashmolean explores being Really Roman, and celebrates the opening of our redisplayed Rome Galleries. It's a free event for all the family and you're invited to take part in exciting activities and tours across the Museum.Drop in to enjoy a huge variety arts and crafts, demonstrations, and storytelling celebrating our Roman theme.You'll be able to make your own Roman mosaics, meet Roman traders and get to explore objects in the Museum.

Bring along your finds to Abingdon Museum and meet Edward Caswell, the Portable Antiquities Scheme Finds Liaison Officer for Oxfordshire, who will take a closer look at your objects for identification and recording.

Join local archaeologist Jeff Wallis for a guided tour following the traces of Abingdon’s Iron Age Oppidum and discover the archaeology underneath the town centre.
