As part of the Festival of Archaeology, come to this drop-in event and learn how the reporting of found archaeological objects by members of the public can rewrite our knowledge of the human story. Meet our Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) and local detectorists for a close look at interesting artefacts that have been discovered in our area, and bring along any objects that you would like identified. Learn more about the huge range of ancient possessions, tools, coins and jewellery that can be viewed on the British Museum’s Portable Antiquities Scheme database, and visit the Museum’s special exhibition Treasure Through Time.
This event is associated with West Berkshire Museum's Treasure Through Time exhibition, which looks at the history of Treasure as well as displaying some of the fascinating Treasure finds that have been recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme from West Berkshire. The exhibition runs from 26 June 2024 to 1 June 2025: https://tinyurl.com/494vmcdu.
