The Old Stones Megalithic Sites Online Talk with Andy Burnham of the Megalithic Portal

7:00 PM

Join Megalithic Portal founder Andy Burnham for a lively and highly illustrated talk based around many of the themes and new discoveries from our book The Old Stones. Including:

Megaliths in Kent and their connection to the oldest Neolithic Hall in Britain
Long barrows as 'halls of the living and the dead'
Use of colour in megalithic monuments
Huge wooden monuments the size of four football fields, and how archaeologists think they were used
Sonic experiences at megalithic tombs
Neolithic chalk carvings from Sussex and other sites in the UK
The Devil's number
And much more - presented as a fast paced 'whistle stop' tour with amazing photos of prehistoric sites from all over the UK Andy's talk including a look at lesser known but interesting Neolithic and Bronze Age sites.

Andy is lead author of 'The Old Stones - the Megalithic Sites of Britain and Ireland’, along with other contributors to the huge Megalithic Portal ancient sites web resource which he founded and has been running continuously since 2001. The Old Stones book is the most comprehensive and thought-provoking field guide ever published to the iconic standing stones and prehistoric places of Britain and Ireland and is a previous winner of Current Archaeology Book of the Year.

As this is online Andy can't sign Old Stones books in person but he is happy to send them out with dedications or for gifts - we have discounted signed copies available in our shop.

Andy would be pleased to visit your group within reasonable travelling distance of London, we are taking bookings now.
