20 Years of the Hallaton Treasure

Join us online this year for the Festival of Archaeology! We may not be able to invite you to Harborough Museum but we can offer you plenty of activities to try out at home.

It is the 20th anniversary of the Hallaton Treasure being found, an internationally-important Iron-Age and Roman hoard. The Hallaton Treasure includes over 5,000 coins and a unique 1st-century AD Roman Cavalry helmet. The Treasure was found at the Hallaton shrine site, and has many interesting stories to uncover including the Mysterious Guardians, and why did Iron-Age Britons have a magnificent cavalry helmet?

For activities, including an online Treasure Hunt and downloadable crafts for making your own Roman helmet, visit our Trails and Activities page(link is external).
