Not all archaeology is buried out of sight, and looking up offers a whole new world of investigation!
In this session, students will learn to look up - to notice things right in front of them that can tell them about the past. They will learn to look above the street level facades of familiar shops to date buildings, and learn to notice street names and understand what they can reveal about the past. They will apply this to familiar places they know, creating fun challenges for family or friends to see how well they REALLY know a place they’ve visited hundreds of times! Finally, they can also play street bingo to see how many historic buildings and street names they can spot in a place they can visit in person or online.
I’m Professor Carenza Lewis and I’ll introduce the ideas so you can do your own investigations. If you or your students would enjoy learning something a bit different, download this free workshop.
