Taking place as part of the Festival of Archaeology, this webinar is an Introduction to HS2 Archaeology at St Mary's in Stoke Mandeville
About this Event:
High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain.
Before we build bridges, tunnels, tracks and stations, the largest archaeology programme ever undertaken in the UK is taking place along the line of route.
Our archaeology programme is continuing to unearth discoveries across our sites. To share information about these works and some of the exciting finds uncovered we ran a series of online archaeology events to support the Festival of Archaeology 2020.
An Introduction to St Mary's in Stoke Mandeville
Join us for this webinar on HS2's Archaeological work at St Mary's Church in Stoke Mandeville.
The site at Stoke Mandeville is a fantastic opportunity for archaeologists to examine and understand a landscape which has been occupied by humans for thousands of years, dating back to the Bronze Age.
At the centre of this site is the burial ground at the church of St Mary the Virgin. Burial grounds offer archaeologists a unique opportunity to explore how people lived and to learn about our ancestors.
This Festival of Archaeology webinar will discuss the archaeological investigations which have uncovered hidden stories within this landscape and present the exciting discoveries found by archaeologists from LP, Fusion and HS2.
Guy Hunt has been a Partner at L-P : Archaeology since 1999 when the company was formed. Over the last 20 years Guy has led on a variety of archaeological projects in London and southern England
Please be warned that the presentation will contain images of Human Remains (Skeletons).
