Creating Hidden Histories

This video is for anyone with a passion for their local heritage who would like to discover, create and share stories of their local history using film. Join Jim Butler as he talks you through the challenges of filming using free tools and basic equipment.

"In May 2020, and under lockdown conditions, I began creating a series of films exploring the Hidden Histories of Leicester and Leicestershire. Prior to this point I had never made any sort of film before. Thankfully I had a friend who was able to advise me on how to do it. In this presentation, I will give participants the information they need to create their own Hidden Histories-style films, from how to research their own local histories utilising free search tools like the Heritage Gateway, how to form a narrative for their film, how to film their videos cheaply and effectively (all my videos have been filmed on my smart-phone) and advice on how to edit and publish their films."
