Fountaine Neimy Cataloguing Volunteer

Help make one of the world’s most significant butterfly collections more accessible to researchers and the public. The Fountaine-Neimy collection includes over 24,000 specimens collected between 1892 and 1940 by Margaret Fountaine and Khalil Neimy, many bred from eggs or caterpillars and preserved in exceptional condition.

What’s Involved

  • Transfer physical label information into a digital format using the museum’s collection management software (MODES)
  • Attach associated images to records
  • Update species names and add relevant contextual information
  • Work under the guidance of Dr Tony Irwin and Dr Leanne Melbourne

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation and accessibility of a globally important natural history collection, while gaining experience in museum documentation and collections care.
