CBA London is the newest regional group, operating across the whole of Greater London.

They organise regular events and visits that include anything from site visits, to walks on historic areas like the Thames Foreshore and curator tours of exhibitions. They promote the Festival of Archaeology and also host the London Archaeological Forum twice yearly for short talks on recent archaeological excavations and research, as well as issues and developments in the heritage field.

In addition, they support education and participation initiatives to encourage open access to study and skills in archaeology, and monitor and campaign on issues related to archaeology and heritage.

They collaborate with local societies, museums, and other institutions to build a broad view of matters that impact London’s heritage.  Representatives of surrounding county societies and key London bodies serve on their committee.

The Council for British Archaeology works with eleven local CBA groups in England and Wales, and in Scotland with our sister organisation, Archaeology Scotland. These groups operate separately from the head CBA and manage their own activities and governance.
